How do you unclog a water fountain, w/o having to call the plumber?
Filed Under Maintenance & Repairs | 4 Comments
We have a upright standing drinking fountain at work, kinda like the ones in high school. The problem is that the water in the top isn’t draining like it’s supposed to down the little holes. Is there a way to fix it without calling the plumber? I wouldn’t think you could use mr plumber or such b/c it would contaminate the other water, wouldn’t it?

How long do you think it would take a plumber to remove a toilet to retrieve a solid object in the trap?
Filed Under Maintenance & Repairs | 9 Comments
A small glass bottle was somehow flushed down one of our toilets. I believe that the object is in the trap, so its unlikely that it could be retrieved with a snake. Based on stuff I read online, I think the toilet will have to be removed and then re-attached after the object is taken out.
How long do you think it would take a plumber to do this?

WIll my landlord or a plumber be able to tell if I used drano/liquid plumber to try to clear a clog?
Filed Under Maintenance & Repairs | 7 Comments
My bathroom sink is draining a little slow and lately gunk has come floating up. My lease specifically states that I am not allowed to use Drano type products. My question is why not? Is it bad for the pipes. And If I use something and it doesn’t work will a plumber be able to tell? Any other advice about what I could use to clear the drain maybe something homemade or more natural?

My water bill - usually $80 quarterly, has jumped to a $270 quartly bill. It appears to be water leak/running somewhere . Do I call a plumber because the problem is not visually obvious to me and I’m wondering if plumbers have a technique that would search all the water lines, find and solve this problem - is this possible?
