There is a small amount of water on the floor by the water softener. IF it is a problem with the (Culligan) softener, do I need to call Culligan to get a service call? Or, can a plumber do it instead?

Look carefully around it to see where the water is coming from first. If it is coming from the tank or a connection to it and Culligan installed it, then it should be their responsibility, assuming it is still under warranty.

If the water is coming from somewhere else or from the connection and either Culligan did not install it or it is out of warranty, then go with whomever you prefer.

A plumber can do it for sure he probably has far more plumbing experience.
