i was emptying my dirty mop water and forget that there was a rag in the water. while pouring the water out, the rag fell into the toilet and ****** down into the pipe. too far for me to reach. so i flushed it, hoping that would unclear the pipe and **** it down, but it overflowed immediately. and plunging is getting me nowhere.
So how can i get this rag out without having to call a plumber? is it possible?

   get a long piece of strong wire putting a hook on one end and slide it through the pipe once you feel the rag hook it and then drag it back until you can take it out.

   It’s called a bowl auger and it’s a good thing to keep around.
   Home Depot has them in stock, just ask them to show you how to use it.

   go to the hardware store and get a pipe snake.

   try using a wire hanger that you have “undone”; using the “hook” end to put into the “toilet”; if this doesn’t work, you may have to get either a snake which you might be able to borrow; or you might try a can of the compressed air you can buy at places like Home Depot; I would ask the person there tho b/4 trying to see if it would be effective; good luck in your ventures!

   Straighten out a wire coat hanger and you might be able to snag it and pull the rag out. If that doesn’t work, any hardware store will rent a closet auger that you can use to snake the first ten feet with and possibly pull it out. If that doesn’t work, call the plumber.
