I have a leaky shower, and need a reputable plumber ASAP. What is the best way to find a good one on a tight budget?
I need a reputable plumber. Anyone can list in the yellow pages! I have asked family and friends, but this is the first home my family has ever owned, so we’ve always done our own work. This one is outside our expertise however.

first and foremost, talk to friends and relatives who have hired plumbers. They’ll have experience to share about good plumbers, bad plumbers. next, go down to your local hardware store and ask them. A business like Ace or True Value is going to know the good businesses from the not so good through their own dealings with them. Hope that helps

Friends & relatives are always a great resource. The phonebook, although an obvious choice, can be misleading as sometimes the best plumbers don’t need to advertise & the worst ones have to advertise the most. A plumber can be a like a mechanic in that most reptuable ones will give you a free estimate and sometimes you’ll just click with them & feel comfortable with that person doing the work. As another person answered, consider contacting a local plumbing supply house in your area and seeing if they could steer you in the right direction as they’ll be able to help recommend the “right” plumber for the job as some specialize in service & some specialize in new construction. Good luck!

Ask friends who have used local plumbers.Check with local hardware stores or sometimes counties have Home Builders associations, they could recommend one.
