    61%? LOL

That would sure make the CEOs job at General Motors, or Boeng, or General Electric, or Microsoft or Hewlett Packard really REALLY worth killing for wouldn’t it? LOL

I have owned 4 small businesses over the years. As a small business owner in Las Vegas and in San Francisco I can tell you from first hand experience that your statistics do not apply to small businesses. Small businesses employ abut 80% of the work force.

If they were true supply-siders, they would cut the percentage of their own compensation, which would create jobs and raise productivity, allowing them to receive more compensation even at lower rates, etc.

The fact that executives fail to do this proves that they really do not believe in the supply-side idea, or at least do not respond to liberated profits in the way that supply-siders imagine.

Between 1953 & 1987, executive compensation as a share of corporate profits went from 22% to 61%.

The supply-siders claimed that reducing taxes would give entrepreneurs more to invest, which would create jobs and raise productivity, allowing them to pay more taxes even at lower rates. However, this statistic shows that executives over the decades have chosen simply to pocket the money rather than invest it.

Faced with new taxes, a small SoCal corporation called his 26 employees in for a meeting. He said to stay in business he must raise prices by 10%. But, he said, the economy won’t handle that, so he must lay off 6 employees. These people were like family and he struggled with who to fire. He was walking outside in the parking lot when it came to him. All the employees who had voted for change had OBAMA bumper stickers. He decided to give them the change they had voted for. He fired all 6 of them

If you’re going to demonize progressive economic policies, the question to ask becomes, “was America a socialist country in the 1950s?”

It’s worth noting that, it doesn’t matter if it’s Theofore Roosevelt or John Maynard Keynes, progressive policies have historically been implemented with the expressed purpose of avoiding a full-on violent Socialist Revolution.

So the tired conservative contention of, “if you disagree with me, you’re a socialist” doesn’t capture truth about progressivism.

God I COMPLETLY agree with Joe. how is it fair to take away someones money and then just give it away to people not trying as hard. If you work for your money you should be able to keep it. whats the point in even working any more if we’re all just gonna b getting food stamps and money given to us. why try if the goverment will just provide us with money
haha, i wonder how the goverment would be able to bail out people, and give “qualifying” people free stuff without middle and upper class…

I think Obama actually believes in the socialistic redistribution economics he’s preaching to the man.
Nonetheless, the reality of economics is that Obama is reducing incentive for top earners to earn and decreasing incentive for non producers to work.

    Who the **** is??
The problem is not that he asked the question, but that he was so against Obama’s plan which benefited him more as an unlicensed not making 250thousand a year plumber than McCain yet this guy acts like Obama is about to bring the world to an end. Then he goes on about how if obama wins, Israel will be destroyed, hes not sure if obama loves america. All this dumb republican manipulative bulshit he gets from sean hannity. hes like a little kid with no guidance

Sure Bush cut taxes, but he also spent truckloads more money than he collected in taxes, on pork and weapons. Neither of these are worthwhile spending. They are inflationary and wasteful. He cut taxes to get votes. When you cut taxes it SHOULD be put money into the pockets of the PEOPLE. And Alan Leadspan (and Gordon Brown etal) thought they had invented the future and cured inflation, so they let bubbles form in the economy. The bubbles have burst and now we are paying the price.

that doesnt work or we would never be in recession because bush cut enough taxes now please do tell me how is it goign to lead us out of recession when we were doing it 2 terms before the recession????? and unemployment kept rising and jobs kept falling during those tax cuts hmmmm this whole tax cut philosophy has a MASSIVE flaw

Gee, learn that at university did you? 100% minus 10% equals still having 90% of your money. So how does taxing the rich more than at present help the poor (esp when there doesn’t seem to be much of a plan to cut taxes on the poor)? Answer: it doesn’t: the rich are simply left with less monety to invest. But it sure does help those envious types feel better.
It is investment (the starting or expanding of businesses) that will drag the US economy out of recession.

you act like i need joe’s money, unlike joe i actually own several businesses of my own. joe still needs to pay his taxes which he has avoided and dodged.

“who think you deserve more than anyone else”.
Yep, under socailism, you’d be an idiot to start a business: you be hit with extra taxes and workers comp insurance, etc. You’d be a ******* to run a business when you could just sit back and let the gummint take care of you.
Wake up Mrs Darrow: Obama’s speech made clear that no one is going to get anything for free…except maybe those large unions and corporations with their begging bowls.

Err, you dumb socialist, taxes are the part of Joe’s money that the government takes off Joe to give to you or spend on expensive wars abroad (not that Joe seems to have a problem with the war, though).
